32 arrested in Arpaio's latest crackdown

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has arrested 32 people during its two-day "crime suppression" crackdown, officials said Tuesday.

Three people were arrested Tuesday at Airport Enterprises, a Phoenix auto-body repair shop near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, on suspicion of identity theft and forgery, said Lt. Brian Lee, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

An employee had tipped off the Sheriff's Office in April 2008, Lee said. Further details on the arrests were not immediately available.
On Monday, Arpaio kicked off the operation by targeting areas along Interstate 17 in Anthem.

In one instance, 18 people in one vehicle were arrested on allegations that they violated the state human-smuggling law, which allows recent illegal immigrants to be charged as co-conspirators in their own smuggling, officials said.

Others were arrested on charges that ranged from unpaid traffic offenses to possession of marijuana to refusing to show ID.

Around 200 deputies, posse members and reserves were participating in the crackdown.

The federal government recently removed some of Arpaio's enforcement authority connected to illegal immigration laws. Arpaio said he is using state laws for the two operations.

I have heard that illegals fly into the country.

OMG! Must be wonderful to pick up the phone tell your Sheriff where to find illegals and actually have something done about it. All I can say is only in my wildest dreams...

I live in an Hispanic community. If you want to know what it's like to live someplace where most of the people in local stores speak Spanish, regular graffiti on block walls, safe houses in every neighborhood to some degree or another, most of your neighbors drive new trucks that probably don't have insurance or current tags, there are twice as many people per house, mariachi music, AND no reasonable person goes out after dark because of who is running the streets, move here.

When Sheriff Joe started cracking down, they started straightening up. They didn't go back to Mexico or South America. They just stopped the really obnoxious behavior. But, they are still there and still stealing identities. Still getting drunk and getting into cars that are not insured. They are still there and the only way we are going to get anything does is if every state AND congress decides to do something about it. We ARE in gear. We ARE going to get a grip on this. I'm sure of it. I notice the numbers on this site going up and I feel hope. I don't like what has happened to my country. I haven't for 20 years. But, now I feel hope.

Most city and county police department don't E-Verify who they hire, don't use SAVE or 287g Program. What has our tax dollars been getting from the police for the past 50 years? I have heard magistrates say, I don't want to seen my men (the police) into harms way. So who gets paid to make our streets safe again?
