Agents seize meth, marijuana at checkpoints

U.S. Border Patrol agents seized several bundles of methamphetamine and marijuana at two checkpoints over the past several days.

The most recent seizure happened on Tuesday afternoon at the Interstate 8 checkpoint, which is located east of Yuma.

According to Agent Shaun Kuzia, a spokesman for the Yuma Sector, at about 2:30 p.m. agents assigned to the Wellton Station referred a green Ford F-150 hauling a white Saturn sedan for secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine team alerted to the truck.

While in secondary, agents discovered a hidden compartment behind the rear seat of the pickup which contained nine foil-wrapped packages of methamphetamine. Agents also discovered an additional six bundles of methamphetamine hidden inside the passenger door panel.
