Domestic assault

A 23-year-old man wanted for allegedly beating and running over his pregnant teenage girlfriend two weeks ago was arrested Thursday.

According to information from the Flagstaff Police Department, Juan M. Veloz was found at his 17-year-old girlfriend's workplace on South Beulah Boulevard at about 5 p.m. and arrested after a short foot pursuit. He was taken to the Coconino County jail, where he was charged with hit and run, sexual conduct with a minor, aggravated assault, kidnapping and endangerment, all per domestic violence. Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement are also investigating Veloz, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, because he has been deported previously for felony crimes, police stated.

Police had been looking for Veloz since March 13 after he allegedly beat, kicked and ran over the foot of the teen during an altercation at the Quality Inn, 2500 E. Lucky Lane. The teen is about two months pregnant with his child.
