TN: Clarksville Battles Over Illegal Immigrant Resolution

Clarksville Battles Over Illegal Immigrant Resolution
    [March 6, 2008, 9:01 pm] Play Video

The city of Clarksville is the latest Middle Tennessee battleground in the fight over illegal immigrants.

A city resolution calls for police officers to tell federal officials when they discover someone not in the country legally.

    Opponents call it racial profiling.

Rosa Ponce worked in a Mexican restaurant while putting herself through college at Austin Peay State University.

After earning her degree, Ponce, who moved from Arizona, decided to stay in Clarksville.

Now, Ponce worries her adopted hometown is becoming hostile to Hispanics.

She said,...“Clarksville has a slogan, gateway to the south. I think if this resolution is signed, I think we’re going to have to change our sign to the old south.â€

I'd like to see that pride back in AMERICA!!!

2005 supreme court decision said law enforcement can ask immigration statis without fear of accusations of profiling or violating 4th amendment ,just like it can ask any one they stop their name or birth date.
