Releasing an unanswered letter to President Bush, Rep. Steve King, R-La., spoke to a rally at the Mexican border yesterday to kick off a new campaign by the Minuteman Project called "Operation Sovereignty."

King told a crowd in Laredo, Texas, he is frustrated the president has failed to answer his letter.

"I called the White House for two and a half months asking for an answer to this letter," the congressman said. "Two weeks ago, I told the White House that if you can't or won't answer this letter, then I will do so today. That's what I am doing right now, here in Laredo, Texas, with Jim Gilchrist and the Minuteman Project.

King's June 23 letter calls for Bush to answer five specific questions:

    1. Is there such a thing as too much immigration?

    2. If so, how much is too much? Too much legal? Too much illegal.

    3. How many people do you believe would be given legal status in the U.S. over the next twenty years if S.2611 were signed into law?

    4. Would you agree to an annual cap on the number of immigrants allowed into the U.S.?

    5. If the federal government cannot stop the illegal immigration of individuals who work illegally in the United States how o you propose we stop $65 billion worth of illegal drugs entering our country every year?

Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist, who also spoke at the rally, was equally critical of the Bush administration on the anniversary.

"The Bush administration must remember that 9/11 is a day to take action," he said. "On this day, five years ago, I decided to come forward to secure our borders so another 9/11 could never happen. Five years later, the Bush administration has done nothing to prevent the thousands of drug dealers, criminals and terrorists from entering the U.S. illegally across our wide open border with Mexico."

The Minuteman Project's Operation Sovereignty is a civilian border patrol action scheduled to run until election day in November.

"We picked Laredo, Texas, because a drug war is raging across from Nuevo Laredo," Gilchrist told WND. "Laredo is on the front lines of war we are fighting against the illegal immigration invasion coming across from Mexico."

Operation Sovereignty expects to draw hundreds of Minutemen volunteers to the Texas border around Laredo over the next two months.

"We want to demonstrate once again," Gilchrist told the kickoff rally, "that observation and reporting by civilian patrols is enough to stop the flow of illegal immigrants across our borders."

The complete text of King's letter to Bush, as released to WND, pressed the White House to enforce existing immigration laws:

The foundation of your immigration plan is based on the promise of enforcement. Americans have seen only a diminishing enforcement effort for at least twenty years. Neither they, nor I, are willing to accept a proposal based on an empty promise. If border security and domestic enforcement cannot be achieved, there is no way we can stop or even slow down the $65 billion in illegal drugs that enter our country annually across our southern border.

King's letter concluded by emphasizing the importance of stopping illegal immigration: "The destiny of our nation hangs in our balance."

Earlier this month, King hosted House Judiciary Committee immigration hearings held in Dubuque, Iowa.

Glenn Spencer of the border-watch group American Patrol arrived early at the site of the Laredo rally to tie 3,000 memorial flags on trees and bushes at the rally's site to commemorate 9/11.

    GO Congressman King!!

A great letter to a President.

Unfortunately, you only had a Wackident on the receiving end.

    Bench him!!

Get him out out out of our White House.

    Impeach Bush and Cheney...Double Impeachment.

It takes 15 minutes by the US Congress to end this Nightmare and make Dennis Hastert President to finish the term and stop the bleeding of this nation.

You can not be responsible representatives if you do not take this 15 minutes and do this for US.

    Please.

    "Just Do It".

Someone may ask but how can you impeach a President and Vice President in 15 minutes?

Because all that is required is a Vote.

    You do not need Hearings.

    You do not need Debate.

You can have Hearings and Debate...but they are Not Required.

All that is required is a Resolution of Impeachment.

And a Vote on the Resolution.

    15 minutes.

    And this Nightmare is Over.

    Yours sincerely,

    4th Generation Republican

    P. S. The primary reason some people are still uncertain about impeachment is because they think Cheney would become President...which would of course be UNacceptable. That's why the solution is a Double Impeachment. When the Goose is a Crook and the Gander is a Crook, then you follow the thinking of "What's good for the goose is good for the gander" and get rid of them BOTH!!

    Very Simple.

15 minutes...is all we need...to End This Nightmare.

I beleive that its not up to Bush or whoever..the secret societies play our presidents like a fiddle..except a few. Kennedy, Reagan..you know, the real men. Men who can stand up and say no when it needs to be done. Isn't it a wonder that it just so happens that these two men had their lives theatened? We all know who's to blame..Its the secret societies who will stop at nothing to acheive what it is they want--the world. This immigration issue is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what we really face in the future. If Bush had any sense at all, he would buck the forces now and stop this insanity.

I really believe that people should no longer be fooled, our elections don't mean a thing anymore. They are rigged and they are merely a formality.

Bush is part of the secret societies. So is Clinton. Clinton belonged to the Rhodes Society in England when he was at Oxford which is the counterpart sister organization to the Yale Skull and Bones that both Bush men belonged to.

Bush is 100% responsible for his actions. He is a secret society insider and member and long standing for at least 2 generations.

His father started this whole concept of New World Order and Free Trade Agreements with NAFTA. He was clever though and let Clinton be the one to actually sign it into law but Bush signed the original NAFTA agreement with Mexico.

I'm a 4th generation Republican who adored Pappy Bush and while I didn't know that much about GW, I assumed we were safe with his son in the White House.

Boy or Boy was I wrong. Then after doing my research a year ago, I discover that Pappy was as rotten as they come.

They are Imposters and should have majored in Drama because there isn't an actor in Hollywood that can perform better than a Bush on Camera to deceive the American People out of their sovereignty.

Don't fall for it. They can cry and tear up on a dime better than any Academy Award Winner.

I see that now. And I pray more Americans do soon.
