MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's governor is confident he did the right thing four months ago by signing a strict law that catapulted the state to the forefront of America's debate about illegal immigrants.

But Gov. Robert Bentley is declining most interviews about it because he says wants his administration to be remembered for other things, like creating jobs and solving problems.

In a rare interview about the law, Bentley says it would be easy to replace Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer as the face of the illegal immigration issue because he gets requests every day to appear on national TV shows. But Bentley says he's intentionally declined because he doesn't want to add fuel to the fire.

He has had a threat against his life by a Hispanic woman, arrested recently.

He is doing the right thing - these people are dangerous.
