CBP Officers Apprehend Two Men Wanted on Alleged Charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and Four Other Fugitives

Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Hidalgo-Pharr and Anzalduas International Bridges apprehended two men wanted by state authorities on alleged charges of sexual assault of a child. Officers also apprehended two women and two other men on state and federal charges.

On July 14, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a northbound male traveler identified as Rodolfo Narvaez Sanchez, a Mexican citizen, age 27 from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A check of a CBP national database identified Narvaez Sanchez as a fugitive wanted by the McAllen, Texas Police Department on an alleged charge of sexual assault. Narvaez Sanchez was transferred to the custody of the McAllen, Texas Police Department.

On July 14, CBP officers working at the northbound pedestrian lanes at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a female traveler identified as Lilia Ann Gonzalez, a U.S. citizen, age 25 from Harlingen, Texas. A check of a CBP national database identified Gonzalez as a fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service on an alleged charge of dangerous drugs. Gonzalez was transferred to the McAllen, Texas office of the U.S. Marshals Service.

On July 10, CBP officers working at the Anzalduas International Bridge came in contact with a northbound male traveler identified as Luis Ortiz, a U.S. citizen, age 46 from Fort Worth, Texas. A check of a CBP national database identified Ortiz as a fugitive wanted by the Fort Worth, Texas Police Department on an alleged charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Ortiz was transferred to the custody of the Mission, Texas Police Department and was extradited back to Fort Worth, Texas.

On July 4, CBP officers working at the Pharr International Bridge came in contact with a northbound male traveler who was identified as Eleazar Ceron, a U.S. citizen, age 18, from Houston, Texas. A check of a CBP national database identified Ceron as a fugitive wanted by the Houston, Texas Harris County Sheriff’s Office on an alleged charge of larceny. Ortiz was transferred to the custody of the Pharr, Texas Police Department and was extradited back to Houston, Texas.

On July 4, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a northbound female traveler who was identified as Melissa Perez, a U.S. citizen, age 19 from Linn, Texas. A check of a CBP national database identified Perez as a fugitive wanted by the McAllen, Texas Police Department on an alleged charge of driving while intoxicated. Perez was transferred to the custody of the McAllen Police Department.

On July 3, CBP officers working the northbound pedestrian lanes at the Hidalgo International Bridge came in contact with a traveler identified as Ian Francisco Ortiz, a U.S. citizen, age 35, from Katy, Texas. A check of a CBP national database identified Ortiz as a fugitive wanted by Abilene, Texas Sheriff’s Office on an alleged charge of fraud by check. Ortiz was transferred to the custody of the Hidalgo, Texas Police Department and was extradited back to Abilene, Texas.
