Arizona Threatens To Cut Power L.A. Unless Boycotts Are Lift
Arizona Threatens To Cut Power To L.A. Unless Boycotts Are Lifted
May 21, 2010
by Personal Liberty News Desk
An Arizona utility commissioner said on Wednesday that he is willing to cut off Los Angeles’ power if the city moves forward with its economic boycott of the Grand Canyon State.
Last week, the L.A. City Council overwhelmingly approved a measure to suspend a variety of business contracts with Arizona due to the state’s controversial new immigration laws.
Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa this week stating that he was "dismayed" with the council’s decision, and would entertain the idea of fighting a boycott with a boycott unless it reconsidered the measure, according to CBS News.
"If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation," he wrote.
"However, if you find that the city council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy," Pierce added.
Currently, more than one-quarter of Los Angeles’ electricity comes from Arizona-based power plants, Fox News reports.

I thought I heard that even though those plants are in Arizona, they are at least partially-owned by Los Angeles. Therefore, Arizona wouldn't have the authority to cut the power.
Is this correct, or has anyone else heard something similar?
Thanks,

The City of Los Angeles owns 5.7% interest in the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. That's not a large enough interest to control the decision. And in a Boycott War where the city of Los Angeles is illegally terminating contracts with private Arizona businesses and committing libel and slander against the people of Arizona to disrupt trade and cause economic damage to innocent people in Arizona with the insidious goal of perpetuating the illegal acts and dire consequences of illegal immigration ... really, anything goes.
What we're dealing with here is a third world mentality inherent in the Los Angeles City Council driven by treason and loyalty to governments and citizens other than our own. If they want "economic war", then I'm pretty sure they're going to get just what they asked for.

We're going to have to get Border Patrol agents to patrol the California borders with Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona to keep Californians from rushing into those states, after California falls apart.

Talk about a power play. I think Arizona is in the catbird seat.
