U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter (04/06/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 14,510 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested eight criminal aliens and seven gang members. There were nine rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,219 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-tanker, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology led to the discovery of the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,524 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents observed several unidentified subjects burying large bundles in the desert and responded to the area. Upon arrival, agents discovered the subjects had returned to Mexico and that the buried bundles contained marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,281 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. The marijuana was discovered abandoned.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers resulting in the seizure of 704 pounds of cocaine, 11 pounds of heroin, a Honda truck, and the arrest of a national of Mexico near Imperial, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed the narcotics concealed throughout the conveyance.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Imperial, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history. The subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Brownsville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Marana, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for a sex crime and had been previously removed from the United States.

Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 151 pounds of marijuana and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Valentine, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Brownsville, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mexican Mafia gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 96 pounds of marijuana and two handguns near Three Points, Arizona. Agents discovered the marijuana and firearms abandoned while tracking foot sign through the desert.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Fresno Bulldog gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,232 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet truck near Mission, Texas. A CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset reported the vehicle being loaded with suspected contraband north of the Rio Gande River. Agents responded to the area and encountered the truck and marijuana abandoned. Records checks revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Mission, Texas.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Bruni, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child issued in the state of Texas, and had been previously removed from the United States.


New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near New Orleans, Louisiana. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor issued in the state of Florida, and had been previously ordered removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,858 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer. A search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued 15 suspected illegal aliens near Hidalgo, Texas. Agents conducting boat patrol observed the subjects in distress as they attempted to swim across the settling basin, a water reservoir. Local law enforcement and fire department officers assisted in the rescue.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in Rochester, New York. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Crips gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,036 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.
