Something about this arrest does not smell right to me. I don't feel like we are getting the whole story only what our untruthful Gov. wants us to believe.

If you had a link to some data supporting the innocence of this guy it might make your claim more believable.

Connecticut Man Indicted for Selling Explosives made From Cardboard Tubes

By Patricia Hurtado - May 31, 2011 2:52 PM PT

Nicholas Lahines, a Bridgeport, Connecticut man arrested in New York earlier this month, was indicted today by the U.S. for making and selling improvised explosives created from cardboard tubes.

Lahines, 37, was arrested May 19 by federal agents with the Joint Terrorism Task Force at a parking lot in the New York borough of the Bronx, said prosecutors in the office of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan. Police found eight cardboard cylindrical objects containing explosives, Bharara’s office said in a statement.

Law enforcement authorities suspected in April that Lahines was involved in distributing explosive devices, prosecutors said. Authorities conducted surveillance of him on May 19 by following him from his home to the Bronx. Lahines met there with an unidentified confidential source working with the Joint Terrorism Task Force and sold eight devices for $3,200, the U.S. said.

Lahines “was very proud of his bomb-making prowess, and more than happy to offer specific instructions on how to detonate his creations to maximize the harm they caused,â€

Accused Bridgeport bomb builder indicted in NYC

    Updated 07:45 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011

BRIDGEPORT -- A city man accused of making and selling pipe bombs was indicted Tuesday by the New York district attorney's office and the FBI for allegedly distributing explosives in the Bronx.

Nicholas Lahines, 37, of Riverview Drive, was arrested May 19 for allegedly selling eight explosive devices to an FBI informant for $3,200. According to the indictment, he told the informant that the pipes were packed with explosives and ball bearings, and he also discussed how he builds his bombs for maximum deadly effect.

Lahines is scheduled to be arraigned in U.S. District Court in New York on Thursday. The five-count indictment charges him with the manufacture, transportation and distribution of explosive materials, and the transport of explosives across state lines. He faces a maximum of 40 years in prison.

The FBI had searched Lahines' apartment on Riverside Drive, in Bridgeport's North End, and found a variety of bomb-making supplies. During the search, a small jar with a white powdery residue accidentally detonated, injuring a member of the State Police bomb squad, who was treated and released at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

The apartment is in a 70-unit, two-story wood-sided condominium complex on a small dead-end street off Vincellette Street

"Nicholas Lahines was very proud of his bomb-making prowess, and more than happy to offer specific instructions on how to detonate his creations to maximize the harm they caused," said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Lahines is being held without bond and "is no longer a danger to the public."

There is no evidence tying Lahines to any terrorist or extremist groups, according to the FBI.

Nicholas LaHines of Conn. charged with manufacturing explosives and distributing them in New York City

Nicholas LaHines, a car salesman with a Ford dealership, was arrested after selling homemade bombs to a confidential informant with the FBI.

NEW YORK -- Nicholas LaHines, 37, Bridgeport, Conn., was arrested in the Bronx on May 19 after he allegedly sold eight explosive cylinders to a confidential informant of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to a federal indictment released on Monday.

According to Prett Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, LaHines, a former car salesman, hit law enforcement's radar in April. Then on May 19, federal agents watched his home in Bridgeport, later following him to a parking lot in Bronx County, N.Y. where he met with the confidential informant.

LaHines allegedly retrieved two containers from the trunk of the car with four cylindrical explosives in each and sold them to the informant for $3,200. According to the FBI, LaHines explained to the informant the process he used to make the explosives and told the informant that he placed ball bearings in the bombs, in contrast to the glass and metal he said he used in previous bombs.

Technicians with the Joint Terrorism Task Force Bomb took custody of the devices, one of which later tested positive for the presence of gunpowder. Officers searched LaHines' Connecticut home where they allegedly found tubes, cord-like material, and caps similar in appearance to those used to construct the eight cylindrical devices that were sold to the confidential informant.

They also reportedly found a plastic container holding a "powder with an appearance consistent with that of gunpowder." A small jar of white powdery residue, also found in the residence, detonated in the course of being examined, causing injury to at least one law enforcement officer searching LaHines' Bridgeport condo.

According to his LinkedIn profile, LaHines was a car salesman at Rye Ford in Rye, N.Y. He also said that he had a determination to make money in whatever way he wanted to.

"I have a Knack for making money, and see a dollar sign on everything," LaHines said on his public profile. "If I wasn't making great Money Selling Cars I would be making great Money Doing something Else."

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, some of LaHines' neighbors told reporters he was just a tinkerer and that he likely didn't have any ill intent.

“As alleged, Nicholas LaHines was very proud of his bomb-making prowess, and more than happy to offer specific instructions on how to detonate his creations to maximize the harm they caused," Bharara said. "The fact that he is in custody and no longer a danger to the public is a measure of how seriously we, along with our law enforcement partners, take the illegal manufacture and sale of explosives, regardless of the seller’s motivation or affiliation.â€

The information is probably in one of the stories, but I missed it. Is the guy an illegal alien terrorist or a legal immigrant terrorist?
