TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A deported Jamaican citizen has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for illegally re-entering the U.S. and trying to renew his passport in Arizona with a stolen identity.

Federal prosecutors say 37-year-old Leighton Ogaro Coombs was sentenced to a 57-month term Thursday in U.S. District Court in Tucson.

He pleaded guilty in January to charges of illegal re-entry after deportation and false statement in application for a passport.

Coombs was arrested last July at the Western Passport Center in Tucson after authorities say he tried to renew his passport using the stolen ID of an American citizen.

Coombs, of Kingston, was previously deported following a felony conviction for conspiracy to distribute 1,000 kilograms of marijuana in Virginia. He was sentenced to a 60-month prison term in that case.
