The owners of a Chinese buffet restaurant in West Knoxville have been indicted by a federal grand jury for harboring and employing illegal immigrants.

The ten-count indictment alleges the owners of Mandarin House, Peter Ko and Pau C. Liu, conspired to conceal illegal immigrants over a nine-month period from September 2006 to May 2007.

The defendants are also accused of encouraging and inducing them to come to the United States in violation of the law, and giving them jobs and housing.

The indictment says Ko and Liu acted illegally "for the purpose of commercial advantage and private financial gain."

Seven Asian immigrants are named in the document.

The government wants to seize the restaurant at 8111 Gleason Dr. and a property at 801 Teaberry Ln. that was used as an apartment building.
