LUKEVILLE, Ariz. -- Border Patrol officials said they arrested a man who tried to smuggle more than 630 pounds of marijuana into Arizona from Mexico.

An officer performed a routine screening of the man's truck early Monday morning near the southern Arizona border town of Lukeville.

The officer became suspicious of the vehicle after he noticed abnormalities with the bed of the truck, officials said.

Officers said they found 304 packages of marijuana and arrested the 35-year-old man who was traveling with his wife and children.

The unidentified man was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials for further investigation.

The passengers were released.
