Nine Myrtle Beach men arrested on drug and gang charges

Myrtle Beach police arrested nine suspected gang members after a drug raid, according to a release from the Police Department.

The raid happened Nov. 19 and was conducted by the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, the Myrtle Beach police and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, S.C. Law Enforcement Division, Horry County Sheriff's Office and the S.C. Probation and Parole department. The operation targeted suspected gang members and associates of the SUR-13, Blood and 18th Street Gang.

Rosendo Varela-Valdez, 28; Fernando Mancera-Garcia, 18; Hector Contreras-Angel, 19; Oswaldo Vega-Hidalgo, 18; and Carlos Barron-Trejo, 18, all of Myrtle Beach, were arrested by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement division on drug charges and on illegal immigration status. Jesus Edwardo Martinez, 18, of Myrtle Beach, was arrested as a Blood and charged with distribution of marijuana; Angel Osario-Hernandez, 21, of Mexico, was arrested as a member of SUR-13 on two charges of distribution of cocaine; Kenneth Rodriguez-Ramos, 34, of Puerto Rico, was arrested as a member of Neta and charged with distribution of heroin, distribution of marijuana, and possession of marijuana. Jose Francisco Perez-Laguna, 25, was arrested as a member of the 18th Street Gang and charged with two counts distribution of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

The drug enforcement unit confiscated money and a car during the investigation.
