Two sentenced in gang-related shooting in Hillsboro
It wasn’t that long ago that a persons biggest worry when walking down a street in Hillsboro was stepping on a piece of gum. Now it is dodging bullets. Thanks Mexico, we appreciate your exports, not!
All three are on ICE holds in Washington County Oregon Jail

Miguel Reyes-Gonzales
The case: Three men admitted their roles in an October gang-related shooting in Hillsboro by entering pleas in Washington County Circuit Court.
Miguel Reyes-Gonzales, 17, was accused of the Oct. 11 shooting of Fermin Mandujano-Marin in a Hillsboro neighborhood. The defendant and the victim knew each other as rival gang members, according to Lt. Michael Rouches, Hillsboro Police spokesman.
Police say Reyes-Gonzales was standing on a sidewalk making gang signs when the victim drove by, got out of his car and asked why Reyes-Gonzales was making the signs. Reyes-Gonzales responded by shooting the victim in the leg with a .32-caliber semi-automatic pistol, Rouches said.
Update: On March 10, Reyes-Gonazles pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder. Two charges, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, were dismissed.
Two co-defendants, Carlos Peguero-Villa, 18, and Ezequiel Santos-Gomez, 16, entered guilty pleas to attempted assault and unlawful use of a weapon. They acted as "lookouts" during the shooting, according to Rouches.
What's next: Washington County Circuit Presiding Judge Thomas W. Kohl sentenced Reyes-Gonzales to 90 months in prison for the Measure 11 felony. Reyes-Gonzales is not eligible for early release.
Kohl also sentenced Peguero-Villa and Santos-Gomez to 36 months each on the attempted assault charges and 24 months each on the unlawful use of a weapon counts. Peguero-Villa and Santos-Gomez will serve their sentences consecutively. All three men will also have to pay restitution, yet to be determined.
