Denice Family Supports Bill Cracking Down On Illegal Immigrants

Cracking down on illegal immigrants in Massachusetts made for a very emotional debate at the Statehouse on Tuesday.


The family of a Milford man killed last summer is strongly supporting a widely-supported bipartisan bill that will dramatically toughen the laws.


Matthew Denice was hit by a truck driven by a man who was in the country illegally and driving drunk. Nicolas Guaman is charged with the crime.


Police said he was quite drunk and didn’t have a license.


Denice’s family says Massachusetts laws are too lax and the state has become a magnet for illegal immigrants.


Outside immigrant rights groups rallied against the bill, which among other things will severely penalize employers who hire illegal immigrants, mandates jail time and deportation for obtaining and using false ID and make it very difficult for them to even register a car.
