TUCSON - After seizing over 14,000 pounds of pot in one 48-hour period, Border Patrol agents in the Tucson sector had another busy day, brining in over one ton of marijuana in two seizures in the past 24 hours.

According to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents at the Ajo Station used surveillance technology to find 31 bundles of marijuana weighing about 1,625 pounds hidden in the brush. The drugs, with an estimated street value of $731,250, were seized.

In a separate incident, Ajo Station agents responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle traveling north of Sells to find the vehicle abandoned in the desert, loaded with 30 bundles of marijuana, CBP says. The marijuana weighed 631 pounds, worth an estimated street value of $283,950, and was seized along with the vehicle.

The Border Patrol continues to rely on the community to assist. Suspicious activity can be reported by calling toll free 1-877-872-7435. All calls will be answered and will remain anonymous.
