HIDALGO - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted an alleged alien smuggling attempt, two alleged impostors, and two men allegedly attempting to enter the U.S after having been deported.

The separate incidents happened at the Hidalgo-Pharr International Bridges over the last several days.

On Saturday, the driver of a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero sedan allegedly identified a 7-year-old passenger boy as a U.S. citizen. CBP established the boy was actually a Mexican citizen.

We’re told later in the day, a traveler in a taxicab declared himself as a U.S. citizen. CBP officers determined the 35-year-old was a citizen of Haiti and had been previously deported.

On Sunday, a 22-year-old male from Matamoros and a 25-year-old female from Reynosa presented U.S. B1/B2 travel visa to CBP officers. Officers discovered the travel documents did not belong to the travelers.

A 33-year-old Reynosa man allegedly presented a valid B1/B2 travel visa to officers. A check of a CBP database identified the Mexican national as a prior deport.

CBP officers detained and arrested a total of five people for the alleged violations of immigration law.
