Group wants federal immigration program dismantled

Group Wants Federal Immigration Program Dismantled

    August 12, 1010
    Geoff Holtzman

An organization dedicated to promoting rights for immigrants says that a federal program designed to help state and local governments crack down on illegal immigration is not working.

The report put out by the National Council of La Raza, the largest Hispanic rights advocacy group in the U.S., concludes that the 287(g) program, a provision within the Immigration and Nationality Act that allows state and local law enforcement officials to enter into agreements to enforce federal immigration laws, is causing harm to Latino communities nationwide.

“The 287(g) program has been implemented without adequate training, oversight, transparency and accountability,â€

According to the report, the program has produced several unintended consequences, such as granting police unchecked authority to arrest nonviolent immigrants, and using race as a basis for doing so. Moreover, the report states that 287(g) “has led to a clear deterioration of the relationship between Hispanics and the police.â€

This speaks volumes about the true intentions of la raza

Its nothing new to some of us, Their hands are bloody with reconquista

    -----------------------------------
    " to arrest nonviolent immigrants"

First off they are ILLEGAL ALIENS , They are not immigrants ,
Our immigration laws make no distinction between violent and non violent

Anybody present in the USA without authorization is out of status and subject to arrest and deportation

Actually if we had a real AG and head of HS they would arrest the leaders of la raza as being dangerous subversives and held for trial for sedition.

Why, because its working? LaRaza doenst want ANYTHING done that would help identify illegal aliens. It doesnt want 287g, E-Verify, or fingerprints. LaRaza, what is it you want us to do to find illegal aliens? You want us to ask if they are illegal and if they say no then we should believe them?
RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

NO, LA RAZA, YOU MUST STOP WORKING FOR ILLEGALS. 287 (g) WORKS FOR US AMERICANS. WE DO NOT WANT YOUR ILLEGALS LA RAZA.. IT IS TIME TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. AMERICANS SUPPORT SB 1070 ACROSS THIS NATION. SB 1070 IS THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE. PEOPLE SAY, WE CANNOT DEPORT 12 OR SO MILLION ILLEGALS. YES, WE CAN. JUST ENFORCE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS; FINE EMPLOYERS WHO HIRE ILLEGALS AND ILLEGALS WILL LEAVE. WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF ILLEGAL ALIENS. DEPORT THEM NOW. AMERICANS SUPPORT 287 (g).
