MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- A year after the strangulation of a 15-year-old girl, Clackamas County authorities said a third suspect has been arrested in the case.
Authorities arrested Shon Estes in Kansas on Sunday. Deputies said a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with the death of Dani Countryman.
Two cousins, Alejandro Rivera Gamboa and Gilberto Javier Rivera Gamboa, have been accused of killing Countryman during a party in Milwaukie last year. Countryman, from Texas, had been visiting her sister at her apartment complex at the time.
The cousins faced several charges, including attempted rape and sex abuse. Authorities said the teen was trying to fight off the pair when they strangled her in an apartment.
Deputies said Estes is fighting extradition to Oregon.

Slideshow MILWAUKIE - The investigation surrounding the last hours of Dani Countryman's life now involves Shon Jared Estes.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for Estes for a variety of reasons, including sodomy, sex abuse and attempted rape charges in connection to Countryman.
It is believed Estes had sexual contact with Countryman the night she died, but it is not believed he was involved with her death.
Estes is currently being held in jail in Finney County, Kan. on a $75,000 bail and has refused extradition.
Countryman had been visiting the Portland area for a wedding when the 15-year old was found dead on a couch the morning she was to fly back to her home in Texas last July.
Alejandro Rivera Gamboa and his cousin Gilberto Arellano Gamboa were arrested shortly after Countryman was found. It is believed Gilberto was forcing himself on Countryman while Alejandro stepped on her chest and throat to stop her from resisting. Both have been charged with her murder.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to sodomy in a case involving a Texas girl strangled after an all-night party last summer.
Shon Jerrod Estes had charges of sexual abuse and attempted rape dropped in exchange for his plea Tuesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court.
Estes was sentenced to 45 days in jail, followed by 24 months of probation.
The state might call on Estes as a witness in the death of Dani Countryman, who was visiting relatives when her body was found at an apartment complex in the Portland suburb of Milwaukie.
Alejandro Rivera Gamboa and his cousin Gilberto Javier Arellano are awaiting trial on charges of aggravated murder, attempted rape and attempted sexual abuse.
It was during the homicide investigation that detectives learned the 15-year-old had been victimized even before her death.
