Bill Proposed To Deal With Illegal Aliens In South Dakota

Jan 28, 2007
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Some South Dakota legislators want to crack down on companies that employ illegal aliens.

A bill offered in the state Senate would outlaw the hiring of illegal aliens.

Violators could be punished by ten days in jail and civil fines of two-thousand dollars for the first illegal who is hired.

Each illegal alien worker hired after that would cost an extra one-thousand dollars in fine money.

The legislation is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow in the state Senate Judiciary Committee.
