    Smuggling Attempts Continue to Fail

    Smuggling Attempts Continue to Fail

    Release Date: September 2, 2020

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned Del Rio Sector successfully thwarted nine smuggling attempts Aug. 25 to Aug. 31.

“Human smuggling is a horrible crime, and presents many dangers to those being smuggled and to our communities,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “Our agents remain dedicated and stand ready as we continue to disrupt smuggling organizations in our area.”

Aug. 25, agents assigned to the Brackettville Station encountered a pickup truck attempting to smuggle illegal aliens on Ranch Road 693. Agents arrested the driver and passenger, both Mexican Nationals, along with nine illegal aliens, all citizens of Mexico.

Aug. 25, agents of the Del Rio Station performed a vehicle stop on Farm to Market Road 2523 which resulted in an attempted smuggling case. Agents identified five individuals in the back seat of the vehicle, all of whom were illegally present in the United States.

The driver was a lawfully admitted permanent resident from Honduras and the five illegal aliens were citizens of Mexico and Honduras.

Aug. 31, agents assigned to the Del Rio Station disrupted two separate smuggling attempts at a local airport. Several individuals fled in vehicles when agents attempted to question them as to their legal status in the United States.

The vehicles were subsequently stopped by agents, which led to the arrest of 15 Cuban nationals.

Smuggling attempts have not slowed down in Del Rio Sector amid the ongoing pandemic.
From Aug. 25 to Aug. 31, Del Rio Sector agents interrupted nine smuggling attempts consisting of 17 suspected smugglers and 48 illegal aliens.

All illegal aliens are processed in accordance with CBP guidelines.

The smugglers face charges of 8 USC 1324, Alien Smuggling, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

To report suspicious activity call the Del Rio Sector’s toll free number at 1-866-511-8727.

EXPEL them all back to Cuba and their country of origin on the spot!

Any person who has lawful permanent residence needs that revoked immediately and EXPEL them back to their countries.

    They cannot stay here!
