ICE Arrests Hundreds Of Foreign National Criminals
    MIAMI (CBS4) ―

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and various law enforcement agencies announced they had arrested nearly 600 foreign nationals with criminal records during a massive three-day operation in the southeast. The arrests were all part of Operation Cross Check.

In the state of Florida and in Puerto Rico, 258 criminal aliens were arrested. The operation was carried out in the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Puerto Rico.

The 258 arrests include 48 arrests in Miami-Dade County, five arrests in Monroe County, 24 arrests in Broward County, 11 arrests in West Palm Beach, 10 arrests in Tampa, 25 arrests in Orlando, 14 arrests in Ft. Myers, and 13 arrests in Puerto Rico. The overall regional arrests include 544 men and 55 women, representing 60 different nations, including countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Any of the criminals arrested during the operation who have active warrants will be returned to the proper law enforcement agencies. Any of those arrested who have outstanding deportation orders will be subject to immediate removal from the United States.

Wait, this is called, "Operation Cross Check". Aren't these people who are already in jail or prison, who are slated to be released after doing their time, and ICE is "re-arresting" them to make sure that they are not released out into the street, and are subsequently deported in most cases?

I mean, that is a good thing, but if that is the case, the article makes it sound like they got 600 people who were at-large, and not already in jail or prison.

Actually I spoke to one of those ICE agents yesterday and he told me that those in jails get immigration hearings and don't get deported right away.

Nine states and only 600? To that I say, whoop-de-doo. Just start apprehending all illegal aliens and you'll net the serious criminals too.
