Obama losing key immigration aide

President Obama’s director of legislative affairs and a veteran of the administration’s liaison team to Capitol Hill is stepping down, the White House announced Friday.
Miguel Rodriguez, who joined the White House in October 2011 after nearly three years at the State Department, was a key figure in the administration’s effort to push a comprehensive immigration reform bill through Congress.
“Miguel worked tirelessly to bridge the partisan divide, forge consensus and seek out solutions that helped us move forward,” the president said of Mr. Rodriguez. “I know Miguel took particular pride in the Senate’s passage of a bipartisan, common-sense immigration reform plan — something that we are going to see through.”
Mr. Rodriguez will be replaced as legislative affairs director by Katie Beirne Fallon, currently the president’s deputy director of communications and a former staffer with Sen. Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat.
