Contact Arnold re: California DREAM Act on his desk

Contact Arnold Schwarzenegger re: Gil Cedillo's financial aid for illegal aliens bill
    http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/007095.html

California state senator Gil Cedillo - sometimes called "One Bill Gil" due to his constant attempts to pass a bill giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens - actually has come up with a multitude of bills
    http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/006453.html
    http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/003909.html
designed to give benefits to those who are here illegally. The latest now sits on Arnold Schwarzenegger's desk, awaiting his possible signature.

SB 1 (link) would allow illegal aliens to receive "non-competitive" financial aid for college:
    http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/005178.html

Those covered under the "Competitive Cal Grant A and B award program" are not included, but the term "non-competitive" is misleading since every dollar spent on giving such financial aid to illegal aliens could be spent on giving aid to U.S. citizens. That's certainly a difficult choice, but the only way to avoid such choices is to stop incentivizing illegal immigration in addition to encouraging illegal aliens to return to their home countries.

    According to this:
    http://media.sundial.csun.edu/media/sto ... 0052.shtml

Arnold hasn't yet made up his mind; he veteod the last try and said the following:

"California has over 100,000 students here legally who apply annually for financial aid to attend college, and our state has limited funds available for this important purpose."

NOTE: One Bill Gil's latest bill is the California version of the DREAM Act, folks.

    You can send Arnold a FAX here, ( http://capwiz.com/caps/issues/alert/?al ... 96&type=SW ) or just call 916-445-2841

Email response they picked from his file! Isn't it nice how personal politicians are?

Thank you for your email regarding illegal immigration. As an immigrant, I can identify with the desire to come to this country. While growing up, I had a dream to come to America. And since then, I have seen firsthand that the United States - a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws - is the most generous nation in the world.

But our generosity toward people who want to immigrate to America and work hard cannot come at the expense of securing our international borders. The first order of business for the federal government is to safeguard our borders. Last year, I asked officials in Washington, DC, to better fund these security requirements. As a result of my efforts, the federal government has made substantial progress in increasing the number of Border Patrol agents and expanding the technology used in border security.

I have also encouraged federal legislation to criminalize border tunnels that are used for smuggling. Since the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, 40 transitional tunnels have been found along the U.S. border, 21 of which were on the California-Mexico border. At this year's Border Governors Conference, I continued to lead the charge in support of bills by Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congressman David Dreier that would criminalize
these dangerous access points to our nation.

The cost of incarcerating illegal aliens who commit crimes is estimated at $750 million each year, an expense California taxpayers continue to bear. I have urged, and will continue to seek, more federal funding from President Bush and the United States Congress to reimburse our state for the cost of incarcerating criminal aliens. My efforts last year led to a $100 million increase for the federal State Criminal Alien Assistance Program.

In addition, I have committed nearly 1,000 California National Guard troops to help secure our southern border. This unprecedented deployment of troops - the largest commitment of any state in the nation - has already resulted in a substantial decrease in the number of individuals who are entering California illegally and demonstrates my commitment to being part of the solution to the problem of illegal immigration.

I also called on our nation's officials to attack the problem, not the people, in crafting a comprehensive immigration policy. I support efforts to ensure that our businesses have the employees they need but have been unable to find in our existing workforce and that immigrants are treated with the respect they deserve. While I oppose amnesty, I support a common-sense temporary worker program so that every person in our nation is documented.

Immigration is an important issue that deeply affects California, and I thank you for writing. I value the comments of people like you who care about the future of our great state.

    Sincerely,

    Arnold Schwarzenegger

I think some spinmeister wrote this for Arnold. So, he's gonna criminalize tunnels. How do you criminalize a tunnel? Is the very fact that it is a tunnel crossing a border the thing that makes it a criminal? Or is it those that get caught inside the tunnel a criminal? Or, if you're caught digging the tunnel, are you a criminal? At what point does the tunnel become criminal? As soon as it's started, not until it crosses a border or not until it's finished? Also, I didn't see anything in Arnold's letter that says illegals should be deported, just that the feds should reimburse him for incarcerating those caught on criminal charges. He does day he is against amnesty, but he also mentions he's in favor of comprehensive reform and I think there is some double talk going on here. In a nutshell, I really think he is in favor of amnesty but he wants you to believe he isn't.

Reminder that he did reverse the previous governor's bill that allowed driver's licenses to illegals. That was part of his message he ran on.

Arnold is refusing to say the "illegal" word here. Spinmeister at work again. Of course, LEGAL immigrants are always treated with respect, that goes completely without saying. But, obviously, Arnold is referring to ILLEGAL immigrants here. And that really irks me when some politician drones on about treating illegal aliens with the respect that they deserve. Sorry, illegal aliens deserve no respect whatsoever of any sort. They deserve to be treated humanely, but they deserve no respect. Respect must be earned and by by breaking into America, they just blew their chance for any respect.
