N.Y. police arrest Danbury man for DUI

CARMEL, N.Y. -- A citizen of Mexico living in Danbury has been arrested for driving without a license while intoxicated.
Putnam County, N.Y., police say that Jose Lopez-Carreto, 22, a Mexican citizen living on Elm Street in Danbury, was stopped at 2:03 a.m. on Route 121 in Southeast, N.Y., on May 26 for failing to dim his headlights.

The arresting officer found Lopez-Carreto to be intoxicated, police say, and a breathalyser test later found he had a blood alcohol content of .20, more than twice the legal limit.

Lopez-Carreto was additionally charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to dim headlights and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $2,000 cash bail pending a future court appearance.
