Calderon Speaks out About San Fernando Killings

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - Mexican President Felipe Calderon is speaking about the San Fernando killings.

In a video message posted on a government website, Calderon condemns the murders. He says those responsible will be brought to justice for killing innocent people who were just looking for better life.

"The kidnappings and killings of innocent people hurts us, saddens us, and upsets us," says Calderon. "As a father and as President, I was deeply saddened to learn about the killings, especially because the victims were good Mexicans. They were women and men from Guanajuato, Jalisco, Zacatecas, Michoacán, and many other places, who were only looking for a better life for their families."

Calderon also made mention of the San Fernando police officers who are accused of taking part in the murders. He said his government cannot ignore what is happening and has vowed to keep fighting for change.
