Yuma Sector BP Conducts Bi-National Coordination with Mexico to Save a Life

Yuma Sector BP Conducts Bi-National Coordination with Mexico to Save a Life

    Release Date: July 22, 2020

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents coordinated with the Government of Mexico in order to save the life of a lost Mexican national in the desert west of Andrade, California.

Monday morning, the Mexican Consulate contacted the Yuma Sector Border Patrol’s Foreign Operations Branch to report a subject in distress near Andrade, California.

They relayed that the subject had claimed to have been without food or water for two days.

Initial reporting put the subject somewhere west of the Andrade, California Port of Entry in the sand dunes area. This information was provided to Government of Mexico partners and Yuma Station agents.

A short time later, Yuma Station agents located the subject on the Mexican side of the border wall in the sand dunes.

Agents provided water to the man and waited with him until Mexican authorities arrived.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents coordinated with the Government of Mexico in order to save the life of a lost Mexican national in the desert west of Andrade, California.

Yuma Sector rescues are up approximately 21% compared to the same time-period last year. Most of the rescues that have taken place this year occurred in the Wellton Station area of responsibility, which consists of vast expanses of desert and mountain ranges.

This is a prime example of how cross-border collaboration with our Mexican counterparts is of the upmost importance” said Yuma Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Carl E. Landrum, “I am proud of our agents and thankful for the quick response of our Mexico strategic partners.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials welcome assistance from the community. Individuals can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free. Reporting illicit activity could result in saving someone’s life.

At least this one was on THEIR side of the border.

Put big rollers on top of those fences, slather them up with red wheel bearing grease, and roll it one-way back to Mexican side to keep them off our wall.
