Brought to Connecticut as a Toddler, a 22-Year-Old Student Faces Deportation a Semester Before Graduating

    Born Free?

    The Hartford Advocate

Mariano Cardoso admits he crossed the United States border illegally. He traveled into the U.S. via the Arizona desert after leaving his home in Puebla, a state in southern Mexico. He and his family made their way first to New York, before finally settling in New Britain. Although he knows what he did was illegal, he didn't have a lot of choice in the matter. He was still in diapers at the time.

Now 22, Cardoso is one semester away from receiving his associate's degree in engineering at Capital Community College. Connecticut has been his home for the past two decades, since his parents brought him here as an undocumented immigrant at 22 months old. He's been to Mexico once that he can remember, to visit his grandparents when he was 7. But he'll likely be heading to that country soon.

Cardoso is nearing the end of the legal deportation process, and his attorney has advised him that any more legal actions are likely “a waste of time and money.â€

You don't hear a lot of stories about these kids being deported. What about the thousands of other kids?

They always throw in our faces how these kids are not to blame, but it's not our fault either, yet we are made to pay.

Who wants to bet that his family has been at the social service trough for quite a few years?

The blame lies with the parents

These people have no concept of personal responsibility , none

Put the blame where it lies , its the the place of taxpaying Americans to continue to subsidize these invaders , Even if he has taken no public dole , he is still taking a spot in an education faculty and a job that could be had by an American

Time to go , we don't want you

The blame is on the parents and the kid. He is 22 now and knows right and wrong. Still he continued to cheat lie and break the law by being here, taking up space in our education system. He deserves to be locked up deported as do his parents. Take their property and auction it off and return the proceeds to the state for retribution for all the money they leached off the taxpayers.

The Ford plant, Volkswagen, Hershey's, Brach Candy, Whirlpool, Gold Toe Hosiery, and many more American companies and corporations have sadly established in Mexico.

Many illegal immigrant parents are the blame for placing such heartache and life confusions for undocumented children. Cardoso were brainwashed too much about false hopes and dreams and now he and the rest will soon understand all dreams do not come true, as some people would have them to think and believe.
