Seven people killed in Juárez within 12 hours

Seven people were shot and stabbed to death in Juárez within a 12-hour period, authorities said Sunday.

On Sunday:
An unidentified man, in his mid 40s, was discovered wrapped in two red and burgundy blankets and a canvas, Chihuahua prosecutors said. The victim was found at Floriculturistas and Agricultores streets in the Infonavit Fidel Velásquez neighborhood. The body had two shots to the head, forensics experts said.

A man in his mid 20s was found stabbed to death at Siglo XXI and Rivera de Bustillo streets in the Riveras del Bravo neighborhood, officials said.

The body was found in a ditch. The victim sustained several knife wounds and also appeared to be strangled, officials added.

A 22-year-old man was found shot to death, officials said. The victim, who died at an area hospital, was identified as Juan Carlos Chávez Landeros.

On Saturday:
Two unidentified males were found shot to death at Manuel Marín Aveytia and José de la Cruz streets in the Revolución Mexicana neighborhood, officials said. The bodies, discovered in the middle of the street, were riddled with bullets, officials said. Forensics experts retrieved 12 bullet casings from the scene. Both victims were in their mid-20s, officials said.

A man was stabbed to death at Cinco de Mayo and Vicente Guerrero streets in downtown Juárez, officials said. The victim, in his mid-30s, was discovered in the middle of the street. The man sustained several wounds to his chest, back and mouth, police said.

A 44-year old man died of gunshot wounds in El Millón, a town in southeast Juárez, police said. The victim, Francisco García Castillo, was discovered inside a green 1994 Thunderbird on the Juárez-Porvenir highway. Forensics experts retrieved 13 bullet casings at the scene.
