Three Fremont men named in federal indictments

Three Fremont men, including one who is accused of illegally re-entering the country and one who is accused of identify theft, have been named in indictments handed down by a federal grand jury, U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher announced Friday.

Juan Carlos Ahumada-Perez, 29, was named in a six-count indictment that includes several drug charges and re-entering the country illegally. Five of those counts involve possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Ahumada-Perez is accused of distributing methamphetamine on

Jan. 23, Jan. 25, Jan. 26 and Jan. 27. Another count accuses him of conspiring with others to distribute methamphetamine between July 2008 and January. If convicted on all of the drug charges, he faces up to 160 years in prison and possible fines of $8 million.

Also, Ahumada-Perez is accused of re-entering the country illegally on Jan. 21. He earlier has been departed following a conviction for an aggravated felony. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Erineo Navarro-Gonzalez, 36, is accused of aggravated identity theft, possession of a stolen identification document and possession of a counterfeit Social Security card with the intent to sell.

The indictment alleges the identity theft occurred on or about Nov. 18, 2008, and continuing through Feb. 17.

If convicted of all charges, Navarro-Gonzalez faces up to 22 years in prison and fines up to $750,000.

Jared Arps, 29, is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges he was in possession of a Mossberg .22 caliber rifle and a Ruger .223 caliber semiautomatic rifle on or about Feb. 15. If convicted, he faces up to

10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Additionally, the indictment seeks the forfeiture of the firearms if Arps is convicted.
