Border Patrol gets probation for harboring illegal immigrant

TUCSON, Ariz. A Border Patrolman has been sentenced in Tucson to two years' probation and has resigned because his girlfriend was an illegal immigrant.

The U-S Attorney's Office says Pablo Sergio Berry of Douglas had been living with the woman for two years when he joined the Border Patrol in mid-2003.

The 23-year-old Berry was accused of harboring an illegal immigrant.

He also was accused of having made false statements on a national security questionnaire job application with the Border Patrol when he omitted information about the woman. In addition, prosecutors said he later lied when he told wrote a letter to an investigator stating that the woman was a U-S citizen.

Berry had worked out of the Border Patrol's office in Naco.
