I get this newsletter from the local group ISCN. It's a eyewitness account of today’s Mayday march.

It also talks about an Illinois bill in the works.

So I am posting it in its entirety. (Also I have no link, it's an email)

1. "MAY DAY" march in Chicago -- summary of observations

I have returned from monitoring the Chicago "May Day" march. Large contingents of socialist and communist organizations participated and distributed large quantities of propagandistic literature in both Spanish and English. I collected a bagful of samples, which include several socialist and communist newspapers. I also shot a few rolls of photographs.

I observed the participants in various pre-march activities at Union Park and collected samples of literature/propaganda being distributed. I shadowed several of the organizers. As the march came together, I embedded myself right behind one of the principle organizers, Jorge Mujica, and alternately shadowed him and other leaders for some distance. I then held position and let the parade flow past me, so that I could experience each sub-group as they flowed past. I collected samples of signs and literature that fell on the street. Once at the rear of the parade, I then biked up some side streets, cut to the front of the procession again, and arrived with the leaders at the Chicago Board of Trade, walking alongside them past the federal buildings, to the federal plaza in front of the Post Office. I listened to the speeches while circulating through the crowd, taking note of groups present and those who seemed to be leaders/organizers, and other activist presence.

SEIU and UNITE HERE promoted the presence of their unions with signs and T-shirts. They seemed to be the main unions present. A few anti-war groups and GLBT groups were also present. African-American presence was minimal and mostly token Rainbow/PUSH.

Several socialist and communist organizations carried signs demanding "Destroy all borders!" and "Smash all borders!" I have samples of a few such signs.

"Brown is the new white" appeared as a slogan on several T-shirts.

2. HB5756 update

Current status of HB5756:

Illinois HB5756 moved out of the House Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness committee yesterday, 4/30/08, after House Amendment 002 was adopted. Vote was 6-5-0. Today, Rep. Elizabeth Hernandez requested multiple notes be attached. I do not as of yet have info as to how each committee member voted, as I was busy attending the Chicago May Day march today. I will call Springfield to get that information tomorrow.

Please review the amended text. I am interested in your comments.

That is really interesting to see. I think that having someone infiltrate and shadow is a good way to see and hear what is actually being said and done.

Here is an after report from one of the Socialist groups that took part in yesterday’s disaster. It comes form the google group where the organizers of the Chicago march communicated going in the march.

I have to laugh; he is complaining about media bias.

I just wanted to add another example of how the press is mis-reporting today's events. 10,000 dock workers on the West Coast shut down the ports today, in obeservation of Mayday. The press is ignoring or burying this story completely. Here is one of only two reports I could find...

When docks on the West Coast are shutdown for an entire day by dock workers, it deserves more than this. Tune into this Sunday's Labor Express program for the real story.

The Reuters article (the 2nd one) is particularly outrageous. Only 2,000 marchers in Chicago!!! That is an outright lie. No objective observer could have made such a claim. No other source has quoted such a low number. Even the police, who were clearly low balling the turn out, were saying 6,000 – 7,000. I think any objective observer with any experience would have to say that it was in excess of 10,000 (20,000 or 30,000 would not be unreasonable). I hate the whole numbers game, but I sense a real serious, conscious attempt to down play the movement in the mainstream press.

The Reuters article will be printed in newspapers across the country tomorrow. WE HAVE TO RESPOND!!! Please contact Reuters and local newspapers who reprint these lies that you know the truth.

I will try to have photos and audio up on my blog by later tonight (that is why I could not join you tonight at Decima, sorry).

These people are truly delusional, they believe their petty issues and petty thoughts actually have something to do with reality in this country.

I have this image, when I read postings from the libertards and anarchist types. This guy sitting in front of a library computer, posting to liberal sites as his minimalist lifestyle is contrary to owning his own computer, or let alone furniture. That and a guy sitting in his parents basement, typing away, assured that some major conspiracy is under way that wants to eliminate all "free-thinking" individuals like himself.

I just wanted to add another example of how the press is mis-reporting today's events. 10,000 dock workers on the West Coast shut down the ports today, in obeservation of Mayday.

Should I.C.E. pay a visit to the doc workers? Maybe homeland security should be investigating who is working at the docks. I think I remember Congress saying enough was not being done to protect our ports or have they changed their minds?

They are back with new demands!
