U.S. Border Patrol announced combined seizures of about 3,000 pounds of marijuana worth more than $2.2 million — all in a span of 24 hours.

The largest seizure took place in Rio Grande City at an underground bunker that agents found by following fresh footprints into a wooded area. The bunker, which had been disguised with plywood with dirt over it, contained almost 1,200 pounds of marijuana.

Another sizable bust took place hours before in McAllen when agents following a dust cloud found a vehicle that had rolled over into an orange grove. As was reported on Wednesday by The Monitor, the driver of the vehicle had been ejected from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He was later released into the Border Patrol’s custody. Inside the vehicle, the agents found several bundles with 650 pounds of marijuana.
