U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than $119,000 in marijuana and arrested two men in separate cases.

According to court records, Hector Gemayel Briones, 20, was arrested Sunday at Los Indios International Bridge by CBP and later charged by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with possession of a controlled substance.

Daniel Espino Reyna, 21, was arrested Friday at Gateway International Bridge and also charged by ICE with possession of a controlled substance.

On Monday both men went before a U.S. Magistrate Judge who ordered they be held without bond until a detention hearing later this week.

According to court documents, Briones, who is from Valle Hermoso, was arrested when he drove a white 1989 Ford Ranger to an immigration booth and was referred to a secondary inspection area. During the inspection, CBP officers discovered 39 packages of marijuana weighing a total of 60.1 kilograms with an estimated street value of $60,100, a CBP press release stated.

Court records state that Espino was arrested when he drove a dark green Dodge Caravan to an immigration booth and was referred to a secondary inspection area where CBP officers found 29 packages of marijuana inside the vehicle.

According to a CBP press release, the packages had a total weight of 59.3 pounds, which have an approximate street value of $59.300.

The men and the drugs were turned over to ICE agents who investigated the case and charged the men, the release stated.
