U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: (09/08/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 9,185 pounds of marijuana and 314.9 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 6 criminal aliens and 3 gang members. There were 2 rocking incidents.

Reported on September 2, 2010


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Paisa gang member.


Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent was assaulted by an illegal alien from Guatemala near Sonoita, Arizona. When the agent attempted to effect the arrest, the subject ran towards the agent and assaulted him with a rock. The agent deployed his Border Patrol issued electronic control device, subdued the subject, and took him into custody. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States. The agent also arrested four other illegal aliens during the incident.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor in the state of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for rape and sexual assault of a minor issued in the state of New York.


New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and seized 1.5 pounds of cocaine at a bus station near Lake Charles, Louisiana. A Border Patrol canine indicated a positive alert, and a search by agents revealed the cocaine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,758 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Ford F-250 truck near Ventana, Arizona. The vehicle was discovered abandoned with the marijuana inside.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual intercourse with a minor and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested four juvenile Mexican nationals and seized 310 pounds of marijuana in Brownsville, Texas. The arrests and seizure were made near a local elementary school. The school district and local law enforcement authorities were notified and the school was placed under temporary lockdown for safety while agents searched the area for additional suspects.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,802 pounds of marijuana and a van in Sullivan City, Texas. The marijuana and the van were located in the garage of an abandoned house.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. The subject was identified as a Sureño gang member with a prior conviction for assault with a firearm in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,206 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near Midway, Texas. Agents observed the vehicle being loaded with suspected contraband near the Rio Grande River. Shortly thereafter, the driver abandoned the vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered an unidentified deceased individual near Marana, Arizona. The subject had an apparent gunshot wound to the head and had been set on fire. Local law enforcement officials responded and assumed custody of the scene.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 313.4 pounds of cocaine, a tractor, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents revealed the cocaine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,055 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. The marijuana was discovered in abandoned backpacks. Seven illegal aliens were also arrested in the vicinity.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol arrested four illegal aliens from India near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed one of the subjects had an active warrant of arrest for child indecency issued in the state of Texas.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 20 illegal aliens near San Clemente, California. The subjects made landfall aboard a “Pangaâ€
