Bill on human trafficking gets support

BISMARCK — North Dakota is one of only 11 states that does not have laws banning human trafficking and should enact one, a bill sponsor told a House committee Monday.

Rep. Lois Delmore’s testimony on House Bill 1185 shocked some on the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Kim Koppelman, R-West Fargo, told Delmore that it was hard to believe it is not outlawed here.

Delmore, D-Grand Forks, said she is getting e-mails “saying we need to take on something in this state.â€
