Part of the border fence here in the Valley will be movable and it's a story you will only see in the Rio Grande Guardian and NewsCenter 23.

Fence sections here in the Los Ebanos, Rio Grande City and Roma areas will be constructed so that they can be moved in the event of a hurricane. That is because of a treaty between the U.S. and Mexico that prevents either country from blocking flood waters during tropical cyclones.

Iraq veteran Joaquin Mendoza lives in the area and we asked if he knew anything about the removable fence. About 15 miles of the fencing will be removable in the three communities and a spokesman for the No Border Wall Coalition says that the decision to use removable fencing is an admission on the part of the Department of Homeland Security that such barriers can contribute to flooding on the Mexican side of the border.

As of news time, no comment from Customs and Border Protection has been available.
