Randolph man gets 3 years in drug case

    July 19, 2007

BURLINGTON – A Randolph man convicted in 2006 of conspiracy to distribute cocaine was sentenced in U.S. District Court on July 2.

Roger Poulin, 57, was sentenced to three years probation, including six months home confinement, for his role in distributing cocaine in the Randolph area in 2004.

An undercover Barre City Police detective purchased cocaine from Poulin at his Barre residence in August 2004. Police executed a search warrant at Poulin's residence and found numerous firearms and 2 ounces of cocaine, according to a statement made by prosecutors.

Poulin subsequently told police he had been purchasing cocaine from a source in Boston for the previous six months, purchasing a total amount of 12 ounces of cocaine.

In September 2004 an undercover law enforcement officer delivered money on behalf of Poulin to a source at an Interstate 89 rest area. The source, who told police his name was Fidel Merced, was arrested that day.

Investigators learned that Merced is a citizen of the Dominican Republic named Fausto Guerrero, 27, who had been deported from the U.S. in 2002. Guerrero was indicted for being an illegal alien, being a felon in possession of firearms, distribution of cocaine and engaging in a conspiracy with Poulin to distribute cocaine.

Guerrero is awaiting trial on those charges.

The word 'deportation' is a farce in the U.S. It is not worth the trouble and expense. What must other countries think of us and why should they take any of our laws seriously.
