Two men were each sentenced to 26 years in prison after being convicted of operating a west Phoenix drophouse in December.

Alfonso Lopez-Millan, 51, and Efrin Osuna-Chavez, 42, were sentenced last week, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. The two illegal immigrants were convicted Dec. 15 of eight felony counts of kidnapping, extortion, aggravated assault and human smuggling.

Phoenix police said a woman escaped from a drophouse near 99th Avenue and Indian School on Oct. 11, 2007, where she was being held captive until she paid an increased fee for being smuggled into the country. She said Millan and Chavez threatened her and were armed with guns and clubs.

Police found the drophouse and rescued 25 illegal immigrants, including one man who was found bound, beaten and bloody, officials said.
