Multi-Agency Cooperation Results in Rescue of Lost Officials

Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector International Liaison Unit received a request for assistance phone call at around 3:30 p.m., yesterday. The call came from the Mexican State Police in Coahuila, Mexico requesting assistance in locating seven individuals that were lost.

The individuals were five Mexican State Police officers and two Mexican mortuary employees. They were en route to retrieve a deceased body approximately 92 miles up river from the Del Rio, Texas port of entry on the Mexico side of the river. While en route to recover the body, the group experienced car trouble and became stranded. Even though the area was remote, they were able to make a 911 call for assistance.

Del Rio Sector CBP air operations, a member of BORSTAR and agents assigned to the Sanderson Border Patrol station responded to the call and began searching for the lost individuals. At approximately 5 p.m., agents spotted the individuals on a ranch in Mexico known as “Rancho Consuelo.â€
