Border Patrol Rescues Elderly Citizen in Tucson

(Tuesday, September 02, 2008)

Tucson, Ariz. - Agents rescued a 72-year-old man, just north of the border near Naco.

On Sunday night at approximately 10 p.m., the Naco Border Patrol Station received a call from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office about a missing elderly Bisbee man. CCSO also indicated that the man was a diabetic. CCSO received the call from a concerned family member after the man did not return home after an outing.

Border Patrol agents responded and began a search and rescue operation for the man, who by this time was in need of food as well as medication. With the use of ground agents and ATV units the man was found just a few miles north of the border. The man appeared to be in good condition. Border Patrol agents then transported him to CCSO to be reunited with his family.

Due to strong communication ties between the Border Patrol and local law enforcement, situations like this can be resolved safely and quickly for all involved.

There have been 416 rescues in the Tucson Sector from October 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008.
