A couple from San Simon reported that they were kidnapped after they offered a ride to two men who approached them outside of church.
The couple — a 63-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman — contacted the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Friday evening.
They said that two men approached them outside of Methodist Church in San Simon and asked for a ride to Douglas, according to a news release.
The couple said that they were not going to Douglas but could give them a ride to a truck stop, the release said.
The men got into the car and as they traveled to the truck stop, one said he was going to throw up, the release said. The driver pulled over.
One of the men got out, opened the driver’s side door and pushed the woman out of the way, the release said. A struggle ensued and she was was bitten on the ankle as she attempted to kick one of the men out of the vehicle.
The man was able to get control and drove to Douglas.
Upon arriving in Douglas, the man stopped near the border where both of the men got out and walked into Mexico. They have not been caught.
One of the men is described as being 30 to 35 years old, 6 feet tall, medium complexion, with short curly hair, sideburns and a beard.
The other was in his mid 20s, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall.
