FARMERS BRANCH — Farmers Branch Mayor Tim O'Hare says he supports Arizona's controversial immigration law.

His city has spent more than $3 million to keep illegal immigrants from renting homes and apartments. The city is currently appealing a judge's ruling that recently struck down the rental ban.

Mayor O'Hare told News 8 Thursday he does not support arresting illegal immigrants on the spot, but he is not shy about his feelings on racial profiling.

"If you look at who the typical serial killer is, you'll find that it is a white male," he said. "So should we not look for white males when there's a serial killer?"

"Whether we like it or not, most of the people who are in the country illegally in the border states are from south of the border," O'Hare added.

The mayor wants Texas lawmakers to pass legislation that would hold landlords and employers who rent and hire illegal immigrants accountable.
