VA: Official Says Immigration Crackdown Could Impact Foster

Official Says Immigration Crackdown Could Impact Foster Care

MANASSAS, Va. -- A Prince William County official said the county's immigration crackdown could lead to the need for more foster care.

Assistant County Executive Melissa Peacor said Prince William should consider foster care needs in light of a possible wave of deportations. Many illegal immigrants have children who are U.S. citizens because they were born in the country.

Prince William County recently adopted measures requiring police to check the immigration status of anyone detained and denying some county services to illegal immigrants.

One immigrant advocate said many families have been taking steps to designate guardians, so that children aren't turned over to foster care if their parents are deported.

What kind of parents are going to leave thier children here. Any parent that does is simply using that child for their own gain.

    That is sickening.

How many stories have I heard of these people coming here because they are helping their families. Yet they think nothing of leaving behind their own child if they are deported. Doesn't sound very family oriented if you ask me.

They should take their kids home with them. To not do so would be child abuse. Child abuse id frowned upon for American citizens. Is it not the same for illegal aliens?

Anyone who would leave their children behind proves they had those children so they could get welfare and freeload.

Stop birthright citizenship and entitlement programs and see how quickly they stop having so many kids.

CHILDREN ABANDONED BY THEIR ILLEGAL ALIEN PARENTS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY GO TO FOSTER CARE. PARENTS WHO ABANDON CHILDREN ARE NOT FIT TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT WHO SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR CHILDREN.
