At no point did FedEx or ICE contact Guatemalan authorities; we learned about these events from the detainees themselves.
Sorry Guatemala, we DO NOT answer to you! We are concerned for our safety. If you don't like it, take back all your invaders and we'll call it even...

Meanwhile, Guatemala reminds all concerned that its citizens have the right to possess legally issued passports and that it is in the mutual interests of both the United States and Guatemala to document Guatemalans who live here, whether legally or not.
So we have to show courtesy to your citizens here violating our laws? I guess the rank of ambassador does not guarantee that you have any respect for the country in which you reside.

Oh please give me a break. How many more of these over-dramatized "wild West" stories about civil federal employees (ICE agents) going in to make civil law enforcement arrests "with guns blazing"?!

Guatemala has asked the United States Department of State for an explanation of these actions, which interfere with legitimate consular functions governed by international conventions.
Uhh HELLO? YOUR citizens are violating our laws, they were NOT invited here, and we're sending them back. DEAL with it and them! What a bunch of pissants!

So what? Go home and take your invaders with you.

One of the detained Guatemalans, a 22-year-old woman, told consular staff she was held at gunpoint.
So what? You were being placed under arrest, that sometimes happens. Go home and take your invaders with you.
