Raid on huge pot farm in SoCal Mountains

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies say they have raided one of the biggest marijuana farms ever found in the San Bernardino Mountains.

San Bernardino Sheriff's spokeswoman Tiffany Swantek says deputies spent all day Thursday and Friday removing at least 30,000 plants growing on more than 40 acres in a remote canyon.

Swantek says five Mexican nationals were arrested and four other pot farmers escaped.

She says U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency officials will decide whether to file federal drug charges against the men.

Curious drivers on Highway 18 slowed to watch two helicopters dumping bundles of marijuana into trailers.

They just had a similar problem in Saratoga. That's a wealthy area. I hope they start screaming. Not until ethical businesses come together to stop this and wealthy Americans get hit with this will they sit up and listen. Of course, they did with the failed amnesty but it would have a huge boost if we could get those two groups involved.

"San Bernadino Sheriff's spokesman Tiffany Swantek says deputies spent all day Thursday and Friday removing at least 30,000 plants growing on more than 40 acres in a remote canyon."

Couldn't members of California's huge prison population be recruited to do work like this?

Years ago in Middleboro Mass the cops found a large field of "grass" and burned it. It was a warm overcast day and the wind took the smoke downtown for all to enjoy. Wonder what they do with it now?

    Thats what I was thinking!

IMHO, they need to legalize it. At least then they could control how much of it comes here!
