The Minutemen went to Capitol Hill to discuss the immigration bill.
Al Garza is the National Executive Director of the Minutemen. He said the group is meeting with senators and representatives on Capitol Hill.

The Minutemen want Congress to defeat the immigration reform bill.

"We're demanding border security first and then we'll talk about amnesty later and I think they're getting the message," Garza said.

The compromise bill has bi-partisan support and the backing of President Bush. But Garza said many Americans oppose the legislation, and he thinks the momentum is shifting.

"I think it's dead in the water, to be quite frank with you. I think they've gotten the message," Garza said.

The Minutemen are knocking on doors asking senators to vote against the immigration bill.

Garza said most senators are receptive, but there is one exception.

"The only one that I would probably have not had any luck with would be Ted Kennedy, but then he's not, as far as I'm concerned, a big issue," Garza said.
