'Swift Justice' documentary to show in Greeley

Feb. 7--The documentary film "Swift Justice," about the 2006 immigration raids on the Swift meat-packing plants in Greeley and other cities, will be shown next Thursday at two libraries.

The film, made in Greeley and produced by the Little Voices film production company, concerns the raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on the Greeley Swift plant and other company plants in six states. The raids resulted in the arrest of more than 1,200 people on charges of illegal immigration and identity theft. In Greeley, 262 people were arrested.

The film will be shown at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the downtown Lincoln Park Library, 919 7th St., and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Farr Library, 1939 61st Ave. Following the Farr Library presentation will be a panel discussion.

The film has been endorsed by: Citizens for Better Education, Greeley Family of Christ Presbyterian Church, Greeley League of United American Citizens Council No. 30005, Greeley L.U.L.A.C., Voto Latino, Latino Unidos, M.E.Ch.A., Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity at the University of Northern Colorado, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greeley.

They ask people who come to see the film to bring some nonperishable food for the families who were affected by the raid.
