Our series about selling out our borders continues today with an update on the story about Bank of America providing checking accounts and credit cards to people without social security numbers -- the majority of whom are likely to be illegal immigrants.

Today we get news that a coalition made up of over 100 different organizations has decided to launch a nationwide boycott of the bank. Unfortunately for them, this is the same coalition that drew national attention to Miller Brewing's sponsorship of a demonstration supporting illegal immigrants last year so they shouldn't expect this story to go away anytime soon.

In a completely unrelated story, I checked out the list of Bank of America's directors today and it turns out they appointed a women named Monica Lozano to the Board last year. Now, Ms. Lozano just happens to also chair the National Council of La Raza, which bills itself as, quote, "The Largest Latino Civil Rights and Advocacy Organization in the United States." I'm suuuuuure that her being on the board has absolutely nothing to do with this new marketing plan.

Let me ask you an honest question: who is out there standing up for us on the border anymore? What person or group that can actually make a difference do you look at and say, "THEY GET IT; they'll fix this." The President? Congress? Big business? Please. Every one of them has sold out to something or someone. I hate to say it, but the Real Story is that we are absolutely in this one by ourselves; the only people left to stand up FOR us -- IS us.

So let's start doing what no one else wants us to do; let's start naming some names...Ever heard of Golden State Fence Company in Southern California? Prosecutors say these guys employed over 100 illegal immigrants and, in the irony of all ironies, one of their projects is actually building the 14 mile border fence in San Diego. Illegal immigrants building a fence to keep illegal immigrants out -- you just can't make this stuff up.

Then there is Wal-Mart. In 2005 Wal-Mart paid the largest fine ever -- $11 million dollars -- to stop the government's investigation into their use of illegal immigrants as janitors, some of whom were locked in the store overnight while they cleaned. I guess you can't sell a toothbrush for 97 cents by paying the minimum wage...

Then we have Home Depot, a company whose parking lots are literally "Day Laborer" auction blocks. In at least three California towns, Home Depot caved to pressure and built shelters for them to use while they waited for work. That pressure came from people like Julien Ross, an Immigrant Worker's Rights official, who said that Home Depot should, "create a safe and dignified space adjacent to its store" for the "Day Laborers." I'll make you a deal, I'll support your little shelter if you'll let me check their green cards first. Bet you're not going to accept that offer, are you, Julien?

And finally, there's Mortgage Guarantee Insurance Company, the largest private mortgage insurance company in the country. They now insure mortgages made to people without social security numbers. Why? Because studies say that illegal Latino immigrants would take out $44 billion dollars in loans -- if only they had access to them. Well thanks to Mortgage Guarantee Insurance, now they do.

It's all about bigger markets for their products -- cheaper labor -- and avoiding boycotts. You and I may be in this together, but we're definitely in it alone.

It's too bad we (well, ALIPAC) don't have a subscription to his 'Premium' or 'Platinum' (high-end) access service - like a paying subscription fan - not quite groupie status, but more than an average Joe - then, the emails are routed directly to his very own computer to his user email. [That's a not-so-subtle hint for W to look into it - plus he's been a good supporter of the cause]

This is the bottomless pit. This whole bunch of everlovin BS is from top to bottom and side to side.

This is the same company I've posted about in the past for openly hiring illegal aliens. They'd hire illegals, get caught, then as soon as the heat died down, simply do it again. Obviously the fines were to them simply a cost of doing business, thinking a slap on the wrist fine is worth the money they saved by employing low wage illegals.

That is until Melvin Kay and Michael McLaughlin, the president and a manager of Golden State Fence Company, faced jail time for hiring illegal aliens. They will probably receive 6 months in jail and were ordered to pay fines of $300,000. The Southern California company has also agreed to pay almost $5 million in fines.

Now if you look on the homepage of their website, they claim how they will never hire workers without proper documentation. You see, if you do make it hurt for businesses and company officials who break the law, as in ENFORCE THE LAW, PRESIDENT BUSHWAD, they just might start to obey it. Unfortunately the Justice Dept, has not had the same due diligence when going after other companies. I guess Golden State didn't give a large enough donation to the Bush campaign last time around.

I would think that success is measured by awareness of the problem---and in the last year, awareness has risen. Keep shoveling the earth, fellow activists!

Engage your fellow citizens to join the cause, and pick up a shovel. For once the momentum increases, it becomes a bull-dozer!~
